Imagine a World Without Cigarettes

Smokers once had no other option than quitting or continuing to smoke cigarettes. It goes without saying that the best choice any smoker can make is always to quit tobacco and nicotine entirely - however, many don’t.

Today, adult smokers who don’t quit can still make a better choice than continuing to smoke cigarettes. Technology has allowed the invention of alternatives that deliver nicotine - which is one of the reasons people smoke - without the harmful byproducts of burning cigarettes.

Alternatives like nicotine pouches, snus, heated tobacco, and e-cigarettes, can cause less harm than continuing to smoke cigarettes while providing a viable alternative for smokers who don’t quit.

If one smoker switches to a smoke-free alternative, that’s one person less who smokes cigarettes.

What if all smokers who don’t quit switch?

Allowing access to smoke-free products and accurate information about them, combined with existing efforts to discourage initiation and encourage smokers to quit, can play a vital role in reducing the harms of smoking and reducing smoking rates faster.

This benefits smokers, but also society by decreasing the public health burden of smoking.

Can you imagine a world where cigarettes no longer exist?

Smoke is what makes smoking so harmful.

When tobacco is burnt, harmful chemicals are released at high levels in the smoke which is inhaled. These chemicals are known to primarily cause smoking-related diseases.

By eliminating smoke, the levels of harmful chemicals can be significantly reduced compared with cigarettes. It’s important to remember that these products are addictive and not risk-free, but they are a better choice for adults than continuing to smoke.
